Solomon Islands qualified for MCA funding support.

Solomon Islands is one of the developing countries knowned to have qualified for the for Millenium Challenge Account fund.This was revealed by the Port Moresby based US Ambassador to Solomon Islands Teddy Taylor.The MCA is a scheme initiated by MCC an innovative and independent U.S. foreign aid agency that is helping to lead the fight against global poverty.The MCA board chaired by US Secretary of state is set to meet the month after .This meeting is mainly to consider possible funding support to various countries who have qualified for this funding.

 
In a meeting the week before with the Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo ,the US ambassador indicated the possibility for a joint submission from Vanuatu and Solomon Islands.He highlighted that this act would serve Solomon Islands an opportunity to benefit from the experience of Vanuatu on how they managed their road infrastructure project funded under the MCA.Ambassador Taylor also indicated the availability of funding support for climate change related activities for countries in the Pacific including Solomon Islands, under the US Aid Office which recently opened in Port Moresby, PNG.

The Solomon Island's Prime Minister Lilo has expressed his appreciation for the country's eligibility to qualify for the support and stresses that he will be anticipating further advice from the US Embassy after the MCA Board meeting.
